Biography
Professor Helen Reddel is a Research Leader at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, University ofSydney. She is Chair of the Science Committee of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA), a member of the Guidelines Committee for the Australian Asthma Handbook, clinical adviser to the Australian Centre for Airways DIsease Monitoring (ACAM), and Visiting Professor at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Peking University, Beijing.
Research Interest
Prof. Reddel’s current research focusses on: developing and implementing evidence-based guidelines for management of asthma and COPD that are feasible for implementation in primary care practical strategies to improve the management of asthma and COPD in primary care through improved diagnosis and assessment of asthma, more appropriate prescribing, and better adherence and inhaler technique collaborative approaches to the management of airways disease with pharmacists, practice nurses and general practitioners population level monitoring of asthma and COPD through the Australian Centre for Asthma Monitoring investigating mechanisms of airways disease. Prof. Reddel has a strong focus on the patient perspective and on improving communication between patients and health professionals.
