Biography
José Antonio Muniz Lopes is an electrical engineer, trained by the Engineering School of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Eletrobras' transmission director was president of the company from 2008 to 2011 and directed two of its subsidiaries - Eletrobras Eletronorte (1996 to 2003) and Eletrobras Chesf (1992 to 1993). Muniz also served, among others, the functions of Administrative Director and Chief Financial Officer of Eletrobras Chesf and was general coordinator of the Presidency and director of Planning and Engineering of Eletrobras Eletronorte. In 1994, he served in the Executive Secretariat of the Ministry of Mines and Energy for the recovery plans of Centrais Elétricas Mato-Grossenses SA (Cemat) and Companhia Energética do Piauí (Eletrobras Distribuição Piauí).
