Biography
As Executive Vice-President & Chief Operating Officer, Mike’s responsibilities include ensuring operational excellence across all of Encana’s North American assets, focusing on leveraging top-tier plays and optimizing base production to reduce costs, increase netbacks and enhance profitability. Mike has extensive experience in the oil and natural gas industry across Western Canada. Before joining Encana, Mike worked in various technical and leadership roles for Texaco Canada and Imperial Oil Resources. He joined an Encana predecessor company in 2000 and successfully assumed a variety of leadership roles. He was instrumental in the capturing and development of Encana’s Montney interests, which led to the prosperous joint venture with Mitsubishi. Mike also restructured the organization of Encana’s fee lands, creating the formation of PrairieSky Royalty Ltd. Mike holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree with Distinction from Concordia University. There, he was also awarded the Mechanical Engineering Medal, Lilley F. Barrie Scholarship, Canadian Iron and Titanium Scholarship and the National Science and Engineering Research Council Master’s Scholarship. In 2001, Mike completed the Executive Program at the Queen’s School of Business.
