Biography
Laine joined the University of Alberta’s Industry Liaison Office (a precursor to TEC Edmonton) in 1994. As TEC Edmonton’s Senior Legal Counsel, Laine is responsible for overseeing legal matters including the management of the Intellectual Property portfolio and Informatics functions. Laine holds degrees in Law and Pharmacy from the University of Alberta. He is a practicing Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public, has served on several private and public corporate boards, and belongs to the Law Society of Alberta, the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Canadian Association of University Solicitors, and the Canadian Bar Association. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2002. Laine enjoys golf, swimming, sunny climates and family time.
