Edward Farmer

Biography

A historian by training, he worked as a television and print journalist and macroeconomic analyst in Mexico City before moving to Reykjavik to join deCODE genetics in the year 2000. As Chief Communications Officer Edward helped to build deCODE’s profile as a global leader in human genetics, overseeing media and investor relations, and launching major websites on gene discovery, DNA-based diagnostics, and drug discovery & development. Dr. Farmer brings to WuXi NextCODE this first-hand knowledge of the unique approach, assets and scale, on which our technology was developed. Before joining WuXi NextCODE, he was Communications Director for DataMarket, the open and enterprise data visualization startup, and developed a national green energy marketing strategy for Iceland. He holds a BA in political science from Columbia, a diploma in Spanish from the University of Barcelona and did his doctoral work in Mexican history at Trinity College, Cambridge
