Biography
Denis Segrestin's work focuses on the world of work, relations of production and the socio-historical conditions of their transformation. Initially, his research focused on the springs of professional identity and the logics of action that are attached to him (see The Corporatist Phenomenon). Denis Segrestin then turned to the company. Observing in the 1980s and 1990s a return to grace in the collective consciousness, he studied in what historical conditions companies - constantly suspected of breaking with the legitimate social order - have been able to recover the attributes of true social institutions (see Sociology of enterprise) More recently, Denis Segrestin undertook to grasp from within the changes at work in large organizations. Observing that in twenty years, developed societies have forged unprecedented representations of productive rationalization, he has carried out a sociological evaluation of the major current projects of management (see the manager's worksites). Returning to the sociology of business, he is today questioning the sustainability of the company as an institution in the globalized economy. From now on, companies are readily described as fluid entities, deprived of borders, and whose political and social affiliation would have become doubtful. His hypothesis is that the place nevertheless remains for places of productive coordination removed from the market and inscribed in the public debate. D. Segrestin informs this question empirically, using various objects: the firm's firmness in network, the socio-political arrangements underlying the establishment of firms abroad, the stakes of social responsibility, the public constraints of governance
