Biography
Etienne Nouguez is researching how to institutionalize " health markets ". By focusing on the interactions between political actors, experts, industrialists, health professionals and consumers, it intends to take jointly the processes of qualification of acts or therapeutic products and the dynamics of structuring their markets. His work thus mobilizes the contributions of economic sociology, the sociology of health and the sociology of public action. After studying the genesis of the French generic market, he conducted two successive studies on the intervention of private actors in the field of obesity prevention and on the use of mental health classification. His research now focuses on the "markets of medical promise" and in particular on the market of foods with health claims. The articulation of these various research must thus better understand the social processes that facilitate or slow down the transmutation of health value into market value.
