Biography
Historian of contemporary France (nineteenth-twentieth centuries), Christophe Prochasson specialized in the socio-cultural history of politics. His work also focuses on the history of the First World War, an area on which he directs several theses. His first research was devoted to the history of French intellectuals. Since the end of the 1990s, its priority research areas have been concerned with the history of the French left. In recent years, he has embarked on an extensive survey of political passions. He collaborates with several magazines, notably The Social Movement and Mine Nine. Revue d'histoire intellectuel, of which he became director .He also directed a collection of history books, "L'espace de l'Histoire", published by La Découverte, and contributed to the editorial team of "Repères" (La Découverte editions). He is associated with the direction of the collection "Mappe dell'immaginario", (edizioni unicopli, Milan, Italy). He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Research Center of the Historial of the Great War (Péronne). He was responsible for the mention "History" of the Master of Social Sciences at EHESS and was Director of EHESS from 2007 to 2013. After being rector of the Academy of Caen, he became in 2015 adviser Education, higher education and research of the President of the Republic
