Biography
Senior researcher Stéphanie Thiébault is a paleo- and archaeobotanist. Since completing her PhD, she has conducted research on the relations between human populations and their botanical environment, as well as vegetation dynamics over the past 15 millennia, through analyses of charcoal found at archaeological sites. She began her career at the CNRS within the ISEM (Institut des Sciences de l’Evolution de Montpellier - CNRS/IRD/Université de Montpellier 2). In 2008, she received the CNRS Silver Medal and was named deputy scientific director of the former Environment and Sustainable Development Department (now INEE). In 2009, she joined the archaeozoology-archaeobotany unit of the French National Museum of Natural History (CNRS/MNHN). She has headed the INEE since February 2013.
