Biography
Entry to the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Ulm) in 1961, - Bachelor of Physical Sciences: 1962, - Doctorate 3rd Physical Cycle of Solids: 1964, - State Doctorate: 1967, - Aggregation of Physical Sciences: 1964.
Research Interest
My scientific activity took place in 3 stages: 1. Experimental study of the electronic properties of metals at very low temperatures, under high magnetic fields by propagation of electromagnetic waves. Helicon modes, Gantmakher waves, Haas-van Alphen effects, cyclotron resonance - at the Physics Laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, in the Aigrain Group - from 1962 to 1970. 2. Appointed a lecturer at Luminy in 1969, I led a small group of physicochemical polymers. I then went from experience (inelastic scattering of light by polymer solutions) to polyelectrolyte theory from 1970 to 1982. 3. Since 1972, I had begun research in theoretical biology, on the organizational properties of complex systems. This third activity became predominant in 1980 brought me back to Paris, the Ecole Normale. It is thus she that I will describe first, by postponing in appendix the description of my previous activities.
