Biography
Joëlle Evans received her Ph.D. in 2012 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management. She has an M.A. in Organizational Analysis and Behavior from Lancaster University and a Master in Management from ESCP. She uses ethnographic and qualitative research methods to study how organizational members negotiate among competing moral orders and how these ongoing negotiations shape work and innovation practices. She has studied the moral controversy over stem cell research in the United States as well as the implementation of regulatory safety in research laboratories. Her work was funded in part by the MIT Presidential Award Fellowship and the Martin Family Society Fellowship for Sustainability. He research interests include social issues related to technology, bioethics, the structuring of work in socially contested areas, regulation in practice and methods of qualitative research. At HEC, she teaches courses on ethics and risk at the Grande Ecole (Master) and the PhD seminar on Organizational Theory.
