Biography
Senior researcher Catherine Jessus studied at the École Normale Supérieure, earning a teaching diploma in the natural sciences and a PhD in biology. After completing her dissertation, she pursued her research in cellular division and gamete formation in Belgium and the US. After returning to France, she set up a research team and in 2004 became director of the Developmental Biology Laboratory (LBD, CNRS/UPMC). Between 2012 and 2014 she oversaw the reorganization of biological research at the Paris-based Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), where she founded the Institut de Biologie Paris-Seine. Catherine Jessus has been head of the INSB since May 2013.
Research Interest
Develop and coordinate biological research that aims to elucidate the complex mechanisms of life, from atoms to biomolecules, from cells to entire organisms and populations,intergative plant biology and molecular research.
