Dawn Smiley-byrd

Biography

 Dawn Smiley-Byrd, MD earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed her dual residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Smiley-Byrd completed a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Emory University School of Medicine and received her Master of Science in Clinical Research degree from the Emory Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Smiley-Byrd is board certified in Endocrinology and she has presented at national and international meetings and obtained funding for clinical research studies in type 2 diabetes. In addition to publishing chapters in texts such as the 2014 American Diabetes Association’s Therapy for Diabetes Mellitus and Related Disorders, she has published several original manuscripts and review papers. She is an active member of several professional organizations such as the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Diabetes Association. Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Smiley-Byrd served as a faculty physician at Emory University. She resides in Atlanta with her family and enjoys traveling and dancing.
