Biography
Prof. Dr. Michael Urban,After studying Sociology, Psychology, Political Science and Law Philosophy within the framework of the degree course in social sciences at the University of Hanover, Michael Urban was initially involved in research and teaching at the Institute for Special Needs Education at the University of Hanover from 1998 to 2011 in the two special pedagogical fields of pedagogy for learning impairments and pedagogy behavioral disorders
Research Interest
The professorship is concerned with the relations between social marginalization, including the correlated psychosocial burdens, and educational processes in institutionalized contexts, as well as the question of the possibilities in schools and other educational institutions to deal with these kinds of problems. These topics are currently being dealt with, in particular, in the context of a transformation of the educational system, which aims at the development of inclusive structures. In teachingthe professorship represents the two special educational fields of learning support and education as well as questions concerning the connection between social disadvantages and educational processes and the design of inclusive schools.
