Biography
Jan Christoph Minx is Professor for Science Policy and Sustainable Development at the Hertie School of Governance. Minx also heads the research group on Applied Sustainability Science at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change. Previously, he was head of the Technical Support Unit of the Working Group 'Mitigation of Climate Change' of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), where he coordinated the group’s contribution to the IPCC’s Fifth Assessment Report in 2013/2014. He was a senior research fellow at the departments for Sustainable Engineering and the Economics of Climate Change at the TU Berlin and the Stockholm Environment Institute. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Economic Systems Research. Minx earned his PhD in Environmental Economics and Management at the University of York.

His research focuses on energy, climate change and sustainable development.
