Biography
Professor zur Hausen became a Nobel Laureate in Medicine 2008 for his discovery of human papilloma viruses causing cervical cancer and his ground-breaking research in this field. He is a physician with more than 30 years of experience in management positions in academic research. Professor zur Hausen served as Scientific Director of Virology at Freiburg University and has been both President and Scientific Director of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) as well as Honorary Professor at Heidelberg University.
