Nikolas Smyrlakis

Biography

Dr. Smyrlakis recently completed his PhD in Management at Bocconi University in Milan. His dissertation lies at the interesection of organizational social networks, organizational behaviour and leadership and has been nominated as the 3d best PhD dissertation in Italy by ASSIOA (Associazione Italiana di Organizzazione Aziendale - Association of Italian Organization Studies Academics). Aspects of his research have been presented in many conferences such as the Academy of Management (AoM), Strategic Management Society (SMS), European Group of Organizational Studies (EGOS) and others. Dr. Smyrlakis holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the National Technical University of Athens. His research has been mainly focused on the antecedents and dynamics of organizational social networks across countries and departments, with an emphasis on the effects of organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). The framework has been extended to include also perspectives of LMX (leader – member exchange) relationships. Teaching experience includes Organizational Design as well as Food and Beverage management. Dr. Smyrlakis has also co-founded and serves at the board of greek startup “Finest Roots”, in the food and beverage sector.
