Biography
I am presently a visiting professor at Sophia University (Tokyo). Most of my carrier was Meteorological Research Institute (Tsukuba, Ibaraki), where I retired in 2009 as director of Geochemical Research Department. I have been working in my scientific fields on natural and anthropogenic radionuclides in the environment, and their application as tracers of atmospheric, terrestrial and marine processes. I specifically contributed to better understanding of plutonium in marine environment. I also have been an expert of chemical speciation of trace metals and radionuclides in seawater, in which organic ligands in seawater has been specified. I published over 150 papers in recognized scientific journal, and over 10 book chapters and review papers. I have been a member of several foreign and national societies, as dose editorial board of “Journal of Environmental Radioactivity”. I received several distinguished awards, such as “Ishibashi Award" in Marine Chemistry (2006), and the “Miyake Award” in Geochemistry (2009).
