Biography

Dr. Jaime Morales-Arias is currently in a Clinical Academic Practice in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (Board-Certified). He started to develop an expertise in sarcoma during his fellowship at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. For his research he has awarded first price at the International Society of Pediatric Oncology, the largest international organization of its kind, located in Geneva, Switzerland. He has now been in clinical practice for 10 years and he is in charge of the care of sarcoma patients and related research at his institution. In addition, he founded a Pediatric Melanoma program at this Center and he continues to head this effort. For his contributions to oncology, he received the American Cancer Society's Spirit Award. In the past years, he has given the task of creating a Bleeding Disorders and Thrombosis Program here at Louisiana State University and Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Under his leadership, this Program has become officially recognized by the Center for Disease Control and the Department of Health as one of the few Hemophilia Treatment Centers in the country. He is solely in charge of this successful endeavor and he manages a multidisciplinary multi-specialty team (nurses, social workers, physical therapists, research coordinators, genetic counselors, etc.), in order to provide the best care for these patients and to comply with the requirements set forth by governmental agencies. As Director of this Center, he actively participates as Principal Investigator in numerous pharmacological industry research trials and thus they are able to bring the most up-to-date treatments available for their patients.
