Biography
Instructor in Neuroscience, Brain and Mind Research Institute , Weill Cornell Medical College 2017 - Instructor of Biochemistry in Neurological Surgery, Neurological Surgery , Weill Cornell Medical College 2015 - Dr. Maachani received his PhD in Biochemistry in 2011 from University of Hyderabad (India) with Dr. Anand K. Kondapi. His PhD thesis work examined the role of DNA topoisomerases in neuronal aging and DNA repair, funded by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR-India) fellowship. After a short stint as post-doc at University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), Dr. Maachani then trained as a post-doc under Dr. Kevin Camphausen (Radiation Oncology) at National Cancer Institute/NIH, focusing on Glioblastoma (GBM) biology in the area of signal transduction and DNA repair to identify novel chemo and radio sensitizers for effective GBM therapy. He joined Dr.
Research Interest
Mark Souweidane’s laboratory for pediatric neuro-oncology and neurosurgical research as Instructor to spearhead the quest to translate the evolving molecular characterization of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) and other pediatric CNS malignancies into clinical use.
