Biography
Irfan Ahmad completed his Masters degree in Zoology from the Aligarh Muslim University and Ph.D. in 1980, on nematode behavior from the same Department. He joined the Department a Lecturer in January 1983, was promoted to Reader in 1988 and Professor in 1997. His research interests have focused mainly on aspects of behavior, particularly reproductive behavior; developmental biology of free living nematodes, ecology with reference to nematode faunal diversity and variability and the taxonomy of the free living rhabditid and diplogastrid nematodes. Most of his papers have been published in international journals such Nematologica/Nematology, Revue di Nematologie/Fundamental and Applied Nematology, Nematol Medit, Nematode Morphology and Systematics and Nematology. Teaching interests include invertebrate structure and function, human biology and histology, animal physiology, nematode ecology, biology and techniques.
