Research Interest
The drying behaviour of binary coatings is understood but that of multicomponent coatings is not. Recent research showed some short comings of current theories of multicomponent diffusion in drying coatings. The aim is to measure diffusion coefficients and test the theories. Further, the theories can be used to relate operating conditions in a dryer to formation of defects such as blisters. Also, of interest is measurement of concentration profiles in a drying coating; first in a binary and then in multicomponent coatings. Oil recovery from different well configurations is studied both by experiments and theory; Lattice-Boltzmann simulations are used to predict relative permeability of porous media. An extractor for making pain relieving oil is installed and commissioned successfully in a rural area; a pilot plant for biodiesel is being designed with the help of colleagues
