Catriona Murphy

Biography

Dr. Catriona Murphy is a lecturer at the School of Nursing and Human Sciences (SHNS) in DCU. She has recently (2013-2016) completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) in Trinity College, Dublin which was funded by the HRB under the Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement (ICE) award scheme. The project title was 'Effecting change in cardiovascular health of older Irish adults: rapid implementation of cardiovascular health research findings into policy and practice in a recession'. Prior to that, Catriona undertook a PhD at the Department of Health Policy, Trinity College, funded by the HRB Scholars Programme in Health Services and Population Health Research. The title of her dissertation was 'The Distribution and Determinants of Home-Based Social Care Utilisation in Older People: Irish and Comparative Perspectives'. Catriona holds a MSc in Community Health and worked extensively as a nurse, midwife and public health nurse in Ireland, the UK, the Middle East, Asia and Africa before joining the staff at the SNHS in DCU.
