Biography

Anna Aiello, born in Sorrento (NA) from 3 to 5 of 1959, graduated in Chemistry in 1984. In 1990, she received her Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, discussing the thesis' Isolation, Structural Determination and Synthesis new metabolites, with potential biological activity, isolated from marine invertebrates. In 1991 he won the competition for the award of a biennial post-doctoral scholarship for research in the field of marine natural substances. In 1992 he was the winner of the competition for Researcher (group of disciplines No. C05 Chimica Organica) at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Naples 'Federico II'. Between 1998 and 2002 he was assigned a number of teaching related to the CHIM-06 disciplinary area. Since November 2002, as the winner of the competition, was called by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Naples to play the role of Associate Professor in the CHIM-06- Organic Chemistry. In the years 2004-2006 and 2006-2008 he served as Secretary of the Council of the 24th Class. In 2004 he was appointed Ph.D. Professor for the Faculty of Pharmacy for Self-Evaluation. He was elected as Coordinator of the Laureate Classes in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies L-29 for the three-year period 2008-2010 and for the three-year period 2011-2013 (3 CdS: Quality Control, Scientific Information on the Medication and Diagnostic Products and Herbal Sciences ). In 2011, Quality Control CdS obtained the CRUI Board Certification for adopting the CRUI Model as a Quality Management System. IS' was elected as Coordinator of Pharmacy Pharmacy Pharmacy Master of Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy LM-13 for the three-year period 2014-2017. Since 2015, he has been responsible for the Double Degree Project of Pharmacy Degree in collaboration with the University of Granada.

Research Interest

Anna Aiello has a solid experience in the field of purification and identification (spectroscopic analysis) of natural products of antitumor marine origin and the synthesis of analogues. The remarkable chemical diversity involved in natural products is still relevant in the discovery of new and more effective drugs. In most cases, natural metabolite is primarily considered a chemical platform capable of designing new bioactive molecular entities rather than a true therapeutic agent. In particular, the enormous chemical diversity associated with marine natural products can be a powerful tool even considering that the incidence of cytotoxicity in marine derivative compounds is high.
