Biography

Dr. Bruno Catalanotti, Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the Pharmacy Faculty of the University of Naples "Federico II", in 1999 has been awarded the title of Doctor of Research "Pharmacologically Active Natural Substances" at the Department of Chemistry of Natural Resources of Naples. During his research work he worked at the Department of Natural Resources Chemistry in Naples at the Medical Research Council Institute in Leicester (England) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Salerno, with the Department of Chemistry Pharmacy and Toxicology of Naples, and with the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the University of Siena. Since 2004 he is a researcher in the field of Scientific Chemistry (CHIM 08), at the University of Naples "Federico II", where he currently works in the Department of Pharmacy. From October 2011 to February 2012 he worked at the Department of Physics and Quimica of the University of Barcelona (Spain). In 2011 he was a member of the Commission, who created the Statute of Federico II University in Naples. I l Dr. Catalanotto has participated in many national projects (PRIN, FIRB), in international projects (FP6-HEALTH Project ANTIMAL large cooperation; FP7-REGPOT NATPHARMA). He was also WP leader of the European project FP7-REGPOT NATPHARMA, IP of the project ISCRA-CINECA UBA1DYN ( HP10B81QWA) and E1E2DYN (HP10CNS2K3) and is currently PI of the ISCRA-CINECA E1UBDYN (HP10CKBLTZ) project. Dr. Catalanotti has gained a long experience in applying various computational techniques (protein structure analysis, bionformation, docking, semiempirical methods) applied to the design of drugs in many fields of pharmaceutical chemistry. The results of this activity are described in 33 international peer review journals(H-index 18, Total Cit. 984 [wsc 955], Avg Cit. 30.75, source Scopus June 2017) and in various communications to national and international conferences. In particular, in recent years, his research has led to the design of antiinfectives (Antimalarias, anti-HIV), drugs acting on the central nervous system (cholesterol inhibitors, FAAH inhibitors, antipsychotic agents), potential cardiomyelegants ( selective 5-HT3 receptor ligands). The full list of scientific production is at the ORCID site: http://orcid.org/0000-0002-7532-6959 . His research activity is currently focused on three main lines of research: i) Study of the molecular bases of ubiquitination pathways involved in pathological processes such as cancer and Parkinson's; (ii) development of new painkillers based on a dual inhibitor mechanism of FAAH and COX-1 / COX-2 enzymes iii) heteroduplex PNA-RNA sulladynamics studies for the design of new drugs for cystic fibrosis
