Main areas of study  Latin script in Roman and Late Antiquity : Mainly Italic writing ( see Bibliothèque de l'École des Chartes, 165, 2007) including the edition and study of Italian 'papiri' (a work is currently being published an unprecedented papyrus of the sixth century, in collaboration with A. Ghignoli and S. Zamponi). A review of the studies of the last 50 years has devoted a report to the 2003 CIPL Conference (published in 2004). Palinsesti : discovery and study of ms. Florence B. Ricc. 1221/2 whose inferior scriptio consists of a fragment in the cavity of the sec. VII in. of Omelies in Ez. by Gregory the Great (Florence, 2004).Collaboration with prof. Walter Stockert (Vienna) at the decipherment of ms. Ambros. G. 82 (CLA III 345) in view of the ed. of the  Plauto Cistellaria (Sarsina-Urbino 2009). Humanistic Writing : Various studies (since 1990) with particular but not exclusive regard to the initial phase of so-called humanistic graphic reform (protagonists, models, imitation mechanisms, relationship with the Gothic tradition). Scriptures and codes of the oldest Italian vernacular tradition : he directs the project of the "Manuscripts of Italian Literature of Origins", which he formulated the "Program" published in the first of two volumes. so far (2002 and 2011). He has published codological and paleographic studies on some of the oldest lyricists of the Italian lyric (Firenze BNC Palat, 418, published in 2007, Escorial, edited in 23 and Venice BNM, IX, 529, published in 2009). He has been writing as a substantial aspect of the tradition of a text, especially in works devoted to Dante's works or attributed to him (1997 and 2001), and writing, in fact, the scriptures used by the Italian notaries of the 14th century in the transcription of codes.
