Biography
Ph.D, Clinical Psychologist, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist, Lecturer at Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität Wien (Milan). My clinical and research interests are concerned with developmental psychology and the promotion of child and adolescent emotional wellbeing. I am particularly interested in the way digital media use affect children's cognitive, emotional and social development. I have been researching for many years on the psychological impact of traumatic events in the developmental age. I took part in post-disaster and psychological interventions after the earthquakes that struck the Molise Region (2002) and the Emilia Romagna Region (2012). In 2006 I was member of a delegation of the General Direction for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This delegation was in charge of visiting the areas hit by the tsunami (Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailandia) and developing a project to promote mental well-being in children and adolescents. As member of an Italian NGO I was involved in several European and international research projects aimed at protecting children from different forms of violence and online risks (e.g., Safer Internet Program, European Antibullying Network, E-ABC-Antibullying program http://www.e-abc.eu). Blogger at Alley Oop - www.alleyoop.ilsole24ore.com/author/barbaraforresi/ Member of the International Board of the "Journal of Psychopathology".
