Biography
Marco Bella, since November 2005 is a researcher at the "Sapienza" University of Rome. It deals with the synthesis of chiral bioactive molecules, obtained through the development of new asymmetrical strategies and methodologies, with minimal environmental impact. Marco Bella was born in Rome in 1972. He graduated in Chemistry in 1997 (110/110 and with praise) and the Ph.D. in 2000 at the La Sapienza University in Rome under the supervision of Prof. Piancatelli. During the Ph.D. he worked for about six months at the University of Glasgow, with Prof. P Kocovsky. From December 2000 to February 2003, he was PostDoc with Prof. KC Nicolaou at The Scripps Research Institute, San Diego, California, working on the synthesis of natural diazoniumamide A (anti-tumor) thiostrepton (antibiotic). From March 2003 to October 2005 he conducted his research in the group of Prof. KA Jørgensen, Aarhus University, Aarhus, Denmark, in the field of the asymmetric organocatalysis through cinchona alkaloids. He co-authored 43 scientific publications in international journals, with H index = 24 and about 1950 quotes (Database Scopus, Sett 2013).
