Academic 1993: Researcher, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Salerno, 1993 to date: Member of the Faculty Council, 2001: Associate Professor in Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Salerno Scientific activity Its main fields of scientific interest were: (i) Gastrointestinal tract pharmacology with particular reference to the study of the mechanism of action of different classes of laxatives and anti-ulcer of natural origin (castor oil, glycyrrhizic acid, antrachinonic drugs) and synthetic; ii) the role of uremic toxins in modulation of inflammatory and immune response; iii) studies concerning the pathophysiologic role of the OE in pathological conditions such as septic shock and hypertension; iv) vascular reactivity and involved proteins (nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase, angiotensin converting enzyme, and angiotensin AT 1 and AT2 receptors) in response to angiotactic balloon, endotoxic shock, genetic and / or induced hypertension; (v) study of the mechanism of action of natural and / or synthetic plant products with cytotoxic, genotoxic and anti-inflammatory activity. Its scientific production is documented by collaborations with Italian and foreign researchers, numerous conferences at national and international conferences, as rapporteur, and more than 90 publications in qualified magazines with a recognized impact factor.
Research Interest
