Biography
The prof. Gennaro Costagliola holds a degree in Information Science magna cum laude at the University of Salerno in 1987. From 1989 to 1993 he continued his studies at a Master of Science degree and carrying out research at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. He has been a University Researcher at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences at the University of Salerno from 1993 to 1998. In the following three years he has served as Associate Professor and since November 2001 he is Ordinary Professor of Computer Science at the same Faculty. From 2001 to 2004 he was coordinator of a CRUI Campus One project line dealing with e-learning services at the University of Salerno. From November 2002 until February 2007 he was President of Computer Science Area and in the following academic year he was visiting professor at the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications at the University of Trento. He has also been involved in various national projects as a coordinator and has been carrying out scientific activities in several international conference program committees. He is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages ​​and Human-Centric Computing and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Visual Languages ​​and Computing (Elsevier). He is the scientific responsible of the CLUE Lab (Computer Languages ​​and User Experience Lab). His research interests include the theory, implementation and application of visual programming languages, man-machine interaction, data management, web engineering and e-learning as documented by over 170 journals, books, and international conference proceedings. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery since 1992 and IEEE Computer Society since 1991. He is currently a member of the Scientific Technical Committee of the University's Quality Center. During her career she taught and taught courses at Systems Programming, Database, Programming Languages ​​and Software Engineering at the Computer Science Department of the University of Pittsburgh, she taught courses in Network Communications, Operating Systems, Pascal Programming, Database Systems at the University of Maryland Tri-Service Education Center, and Lisp, Pascal, C, C ++, Java, JDBC, I and II Web Development Technologies, Programming, Programming Languages ​​I and II, Compilers, Web Data Integration at the University of Salerno - Department of Computer Science. Since 1998 she has used web tools for teaching courses both in web enhanced and blended learning.
