Biography
Carmine Gaeta graduated in Chemistry in 2001 with a vote of 110/110 at the University of Salerno. In November of the same year he was the winner of the Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Salerno and in 2005, under the supervision of prof. Placido Neri, holds a Ph.D. degree in discussing the thesis: Summary Recognition and Auto-Assembling of Calixarenic Derivatives. As part of the PhD, Prof. Gaeta, spent in 2004 a three month period at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany). In July 2003 he was the winner of the competition for a university researcher at the faculty of SS. MM. FF. NN. of the University of Salerno (CHIM / 06 sector). The research activity of prof. Carmine Gaeta has focused on the chemistry of macrocycles with supramolecular applications. In particular, new procedures for the synthesis and functionalization of calixararen and resorcin [6] arenic macroscopies have been intensively investigated in order to create hosts with new and interesting supramolecular properties, such as anionic and cationic recognition, self-assembly and solution in solid state. In addition, molecular machines based on rotas and catenals of calixarenic nature have been developed. Over the last few years, the research activity of prof. Gaeta has focused on the synthesis and study of cycloparafenylene properties, new macrocycles with interesting properties for OLED construction and devices for ' molecular electronics. Ultimately, the research conducted by prof. Carmine Gaeta, have led to the publication of more than 70 works in international scientific journals, 3 chapters on multi-volume volumes, 1 patent and over 80 communications to both national and international scientific conferences.
