Biography

Giovanni Petrone was born in Salerno in 1975, graduated in Electronic Engineering in 2001 at the University of Salerno. In 2004 he earned the PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Naples "Federico II". Since 2001 he has been working with the Department of Information Engineering and Electrical Engineering at the University of Salerno.  In 2005 he was hired as a researcher at the University of Salerno's Engineering Faculty.  Since October 31, 2014, he is in the position of associate professor at the University of Salerno; he is doing didactic activities in the field of Electrotechnical and Power Electronic Circuits for Renewable Energy.  He is a member of the faculty college for the PhD degree in Information Engineering.  His research interests relate to the analysis and design of switching circuits in power management applications and renewable sources. Nonlinear control techniques and algorithms for MPPT. He has participated in numerous research projects carried out in collaboration with international companies and international research organizations. In October 2011 he was a guest at the Center of Competence for Distributed Electric Power Technology Research Center of the University of Kassel - Germany spent a period of study / research, funded by DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst - German Academic Exchange Service). He was the local coordinator of the PRIN08 project: "Innovative control techniques for back-to-back three-way converters used in wind energy conversion systems." He has been the local coordinator of the PRIN06 project: "Optimizing Power Stage and Switching Control Techniques for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in Automotive Applications". He was responsible for the regional project (Annual 2005): "Development of grid-connected inverters for the conversion of energy from renewable sources: application of robust design methodologies and adoption of innovative control techniques to maximize efficiency." 

Research Interest

His research interests relate to the analysis and design of switching circuits in power management applications and renewable sources. Nonlinear control techniques and algorithms for MPPT.
