Biography
Marco Meccheri graduated with honor in Geological Sciences at Pisa University in 1974. From 1974 he held a post-graduate contract for scientific and teaching formation at the Class of Sciences of Pisa High Normal School. In 1980 he was appointed as researcher in Geology at the same School and in 1984 he was transferred to the Earth Science Department of Pisa University. From the same date to 1989 he was a scientific collaborator of the CNR-Centro di Studio per la Geologia Strutturale e Dinamica dell'Appennino of Pisa. In 1989 he was transferred as researcher in Geology from Pisa University to Siena University at the Earth Science Department, and in 1992 he was appointed as associate professor of Geodynamics (D012) at the same Department. His teaching fields are Structural Geology, Geological Survey, Regional Geology and Lithology. Marco Meccheri research developed in the topics of litho-stratigraphic and tectono-metamorphic evolutions of collisional orogens in Northern Apennines and Antarctica (Victoria Land); in the last years he is studying the brittle deformation settings and their relations with recent geodynamic evolution in southern Tuscany and south-western Turkey.
