Joseph M. Spagnardi

Biography

 Mr. Spagnardi joined Shionogi Inc. in June 2013, and is Executive Vice President, Legal and Compliance. In this role, Joe serves as the General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary of the Company. Joe has over 20 years of legal experience in both private practice and senior corporate legal roles. His extensive experience includes corporate transactions, company and product acquisitions, licensing arrangements, intellectual property and exclusivity, compliance and corporate governance. In his previous position, Joe served as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Inspire Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly traded company. Prior to that, Joe held senior legal positions at GlaxoSmithKline, and its predecessor, Glaxo Wellcome. Joe started his legal career at the law firm of Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam and Roberts, now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Research Interest

 Joe holds a J.D. with Honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Delaware. He has been admitted to the Bar in the State of New York since 1990.
