Biography
My duties at Showa University include teaching the Dental Materials course of the 2nd undergraduate year and supervising postgraduate research. I have been involved in the supervision of a broad range of projects by PhD candidates over the past decade, mainly in the area of Dental Biomaterials. Showa University has several sister-relationships with overseas universities, and as a result, I have supervised a range of postgraduate research projects for overseas students. In this respect, I used to be a co-supervisor of an MPh student at the University of Hong Kong. Besides the capacity to understand the context of dental education, I also experienced a Visiting Scholarship and Visiting Professorship in the University of Sydney and Otago, respectively. My visions are to accelerate the promotion of the School of Dentistry across multiple sites, to increase understanding of methods used to achieve improved quality and safety in dental environments, to conduct research relevant to clinical practice in diverse settings, and to enhance the translation of research findings into industry or clinical settings. The values embedded in these visions include: integrity and rigor in research and scholarly activities both locally and internationally, commitment to healthcare quality and safety, and recognition and support of colleagues in practice and research endeavors.
