Biography

Ginger was born and raised among a large extended family in a small West Texas town, Idalou, where her family had settled over 100 years prior. After completing high school there, she attended a small liberal arts college, Southwestern University, in Georgetown, TX, where she majored in biology and completed all of her premed training. She then attended Texas Tech medical school in Lubbock, TX , where she discovered both the love of her life, Richard Batz, who is a radiologist, and her love of urology. From Lubbock, Ginger moved to Manhattan, NY to complete her urology residency at Lenox Hill Hospital. While there, she did training in all aspects of urology, with rotations at Cornell Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Westchester Medical Center for more specialized training. She completed multiple research projects and published papers in peer reviewed journals in areas of female urology, BPH, and prostate cancer. During residency, she discovered that her interests and talents lie in all aspects female urology, so she chose to do a fellowship in Female Urology and Urodynamics at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX with Dr. Philippe Zimmern and Dr. Gary Lemack in order to broaden her knowledge of the field and perfect her skills. Although leaving friends and wonderful memories in NYC was difficult, Dr. Isom has chosen to make Dallas her home, which allows both she and Richard to be closer to their families while still enjoying some aspects of “city life”. Ginger has one little boy, Sawyer, who was born in November of 2006.
