Biography
My interest is based on two related psycholinguistic issues; (1) What are the (neurocognitive) processes that underlie (undamaged) language acquisition? (2) How does acquiring language knowledge relate to the (learning) use of this knowledge, ie processing / understanding and production. It is obvious to me to see disorders in language acquisition, language production or language processing as a natural laboratory, where (parts of) answers to the mentioned questions can be found. At the same time, a better understanding of the mechanisms underpinning language pathologies can be gained. This can contribute to innovation or rationalization of, for example, clinical-linguistic or logopedic diagnostics, with regard to dyslexia.
