Biography
"His current researches mainly focuses on development of rice cropping system models (ORYZA2000, APSIM-ORYZA and DSSAT-ORYZA) development; quantification of the impacts of abiotic stress (drought, salinity, heat and chill, and submergence) on rice growth and yield through both field experiments and crop modeling; evaluation on the impact of climate change; and rice varietal and agronomic technical disseminations on rice production using crop modeling techniques. As the head of the crop modeling group at IRRI, he governs the group's daily research activities and supervises research groups and scholars. At the same time, he also coordinates relevant modeling research activities among research groups at IRRI and takes care of ORYZA2000 modeling studies. He also takes lead in collaborating with other international organizations. As the coordinator of the AgMIP Rice Team, he also coordinates the daily research activities on model comparison and improvement, and prediction of rice production under current and changing climate conditions to serve global food security."
