Biography
She is a neuroscientist, with work focused mostly in the barriers of the brain, and in the study of genetic and biochemical determinants of aging and neuropsychiatric disorders. She presently serves at the IBRO (International Brain Research Organization) and at the SFN (Society for Neurosciences, USA). She has served as a COST Committee of Senior Officials, and as a delegate for the COST Biomedicine and Molecular Biosciences; and was secretary of the Portuguese Society for Neurosciences. She has been part of the jury of several international prizes and committees.
