Prof. Dr. Med. Bernd Heicke

Biography

 Bernd Heicke was born on 18 February 1936 in Magdeburg. From 1955 to 1961 he studied human medicine at Frankfurt University. In 1963 he was granted a licence to practise medicine and received his doctorate at the Pharmacological Institute of Frankfurt University. From 1963 to 1967 he was a research associate at the Physiological and Chemical Institute of Mainz University. In 1969 he received his habilitation at the Medical Faculty of Mainz University with a paper on molecular biology in the subject “physiological chemistry”. He then underwent several years of further training in internal medicine at Medical Clinic II of Mainz University. In 1972 Prof. Heicke received recognition as a specialist in laboratory medicine and was appointed professor of physiological chemistry. From 1976 onwards he worked as Medical Director and Managing Director of the Bioscientia Institute for Laboratory Investigations in Ingelheim. In 1987 he was also registered as a contractual health-insurance physician. From 1.1.1995 to 31.12.2005 Prof. Heicke was managing partner of the Bioscientia Institute for Medical Diagnostics GmbH. Since 1.1.2006 he has been a member of the company’s supervisory board and its chairman since 1.6.2006. Bernd Heicke is married and has three grown-up children.
