Biography

Qualifications   Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Allied Health Professions Council (Full Registration) Interactive Metronome Certified (IMC) Diploma in Occupational Therapy   Experience   Elisa Chong is an occupational therapist who specializes in the field of pediatrics. She is a member of the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists (SAOT). Elisa’s clinical experience has seen her working with children with the diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD), Dyspraxia, Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD), dysfunction of sensory integration, developmental delay, speech and language disorders, and learning disabilities. She has earlier provided occupational therapy services to children at the Eden Children’s Centre, Simei. This centre is run by the Autism Association of Singapore (AAS). She has also treated clients at MINDSville – Children Wing. She presented a paper titled “The Movement Assessment Battery for Children: A preliminary study of its applicability in Singapore”. This research was carried out in different mainstream schools in Singapore, finding out the assessment tool’s suitability of use by assessing neurotypical children, judging through their motor skills and comparing them to the American children. She has also held parent education seminars for the Autism Association, Singapore, and Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA).   Elisa is also interested in the social interaction domain and has attended well-known social skills training courses including Alex Kelly’s Talkabout programs, as well as Michelle Gracia Winner’s Social Thinking courses. Together with her colleague, they have come up with social modules and activities to help children develop social awareness and facilitate social skills.
