Biography

Adj Assoc Prof Seah holds a MBBS from the then University of Singapore and Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and College of Ophthalmology; UK. She received her fellowship training in Oculoplastic Surgery at the London Moorfield’s Eye Hospital, UK andOrbital Surgery Centre at the Vancouver Eye Center in Canada. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and appointed as the Associate Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine, National University Hospital as well as Director, Undergraduate Education, Academic Clinical Program for Ophthalmology, SingHealth / Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. In recognition of her contribution to the development of Orbit sub specialty at the Singapore National Eye Center and the region, she was elected to be a member of the “Orbit Society” in 2008 organized by the International Orbital Surgeons. Adj Assoc Prof Seah is the past head of Oculoplastic Department and is one of the few pioneers in the Oculoplastic and Orbit sub-specialty. She is recognized for her contribution to the establishment and the development of the Oculoplastic Department, Orbit and Ophthalmic Prosthetic departments in the Singapore National Eye Center and Pediatric Oculoplastic in the Kandan Kabau Women’ and Children’s Hospital in Singapore. Adj Assoc Prof Seah has considerable experience in eyelids, lacrimal, orbit, socket diseases and surgery in children and adults and aesthetic procedures. Her special interests are: congenital ptosis, thyroid eye disease, orbital diseases and socket reconstructive surgery. Adj Assoc Prof Seah is particularly active in medical education for undergraduate and post-graduate medical students of the National University of Singapore and has been a regular examiner in the ophthalmology fellowship examinations; the joint Master of Medicine Singapore and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She has also been a mentor for many local and overseas fellows for advanced fellowship training in Oculoplastic Surgery. Her international participation includes numerous presentations as an invited speaker. She had held the chair in regional and international conferences and the chair of organizing committee of regional and international orbital symposia and oculoplastic workshops. She has numerous publications to her credit in peer reviewed journals and has been invited as reviewers for many ophthalmic and oculoplastic journals. Her current research projects focus on thyroid eye disease, lacrimal gland disease and biomedical implants for Orbital Surgery.
