Biography
David Holgate is a full professor and currently the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. His principal research interest is in category theory and topology, pursuing a deeper categorical analysis and understanding of methods and constructions in general topology. His most recent research has been in closure operators and neighbourhood operators on categories as well so-called “pointfree topology†or frame/locale theory. He holds a B3 rating from the South African NRF.
Research Interest
David also has a strong interest in undergraduate mathematics education and is on the international steering committee for the DELTA conference series on the teaching and learning of undergraduate mathematics and statistics.
