Biography

After graduating from UludaÄŸ University Necatibey Education Faculty in 1984, he worked as a teacher at Anatolian secondary school and high school level for 3 years. Between 1986 and 1987, he received his master's degree from Istanbul University. Between 1988-1991, he completed his master's degree in Cagatay Turkish and EAT areas at New York University and his Ph.D. degree in Turkish Linguistics and Old Anatolian Turkish Sentence Structure at Harvard University between 1991-1996. He worked as a lecturer at Eastern Mediterranean University between 1996-1998 and at Beyktent University between 1998-2003. He was a founding member of Turkish Language and Literature Department at Eastern Mediterranean University and founding member of English Language and Literature Department at Beykent University. In 2000, Turan was an associate professor, and between 2004 and 2011 served as a faculty member and a PhD program director at Manchester University. She worked as a lecturer in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University between the years of 2011 and 2014 and served as Head of Department in 2013-2014. Fikret Turan, who still continues to work at Istanbul University's Department of Turkish Language and Literature, has published a number of academic works.
