H. Filiz Mericli

Biography

She was born in 1953, in Ermenek-KARAMAN. 1976, graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of Ankara University. 1980, completed her doctorate thesis using TUBITAK National Doctoral Fellowship at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Ankara University. 1987, received the title of Assistant professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy Faculty of Pharmacy Istanbul University, 1995, received the title of professor at Istanbul University. 2012, retired from Istanbul University, Faculty of Pharmacy at her own request. 2012/2013 Academic Year, she worked at Yeni Yuzyil University, Faculty of Pharmacy and she has supported the development of the faculty laboratories and similar issues. She has 105 research articles, 2 books, 2 chapters and more than 150 review articles. Research topics: The active compounds of plants grown naturally in Turkey, isolation, structure determination and biological activities, complementary and alternative treatment methods (phytotherapy, aromatherapy, apitherapy, homeopathy etc) and natural remedies. She gives lectures on phytotherapy, aromatherapy, apitherapy and does workshops on medicinal tea organized by Chambers of Pharmacists, Cooperative of Pharmacist and other health professionals . She gives conferences and seminars on medicinal plants for health that are organized by consumer protection and similar non-profit organizations. She has been scientific coordinator of FITOMED Phytotherapy Journal for physicians, pharmacists, etc. health professionals in Turkey, since September 2007. She worked in foreign countries and made several scientific researchs, respectively Germany Berlin-TU and Saarland University (2,5 years), USA- The University of Georgia ( NATO Research Grant and Fulbright Fellowship -2 years). She is member of Gesellschaft für Phytotherapie e.V., Türkiye Farmakognozi Fitoterapi DerneÄŸi and Klasik Homeopati DerneÄŸi (Ä°zmir) and Homeopati DerneÄŸi (Ä°stanbul). She has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Istanbul Chamber of Pharmacists from 2002-2006 and still continued. She has been working voluntary with some NGO and several non-profit organizations for the solution of Turkey’s education, health and social problems. She has won THE AWARD OF COURAGEOUS WOMAN OF THE YEAR in 2007 given by Culture University Istanbul. .
