Biography
I trained as an actor at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and have worked extensively within theatre, radio, film and television as an actor and voice/dialect coach. I have been a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and whilst there directed a devised a theatre piece which received an Arts Council Bursary; the production was performed at the Bloomsbury Theatre. As an actress I have worked with James Baldwin, Adrian Noble, Roger Mitchell, Katie Mitchell and Phyllida Lloyd. On completion of my postgraduate study in Voice at Central I joined the staff in 1998, having taught at the Mountview Academy of Theatre and Arts, Rose Bruford and at Arts Educational Schools, London. I am now Senior Lecturer in Voice, Speech and Text, working on the BA (Hons) Acting course. My teaching portfolio has now expanded to include directing and I now direct the first year Shakespeare project, as well as assisting on the final year agent showcase. I have led workshops at the Moscow Arts Theatre, Russia; University of Cambridge; The University of Oregon theatre programme in London; and Globe Education.
Research Interest
Application of methodology reflecting cultural diversity in the core syllabus. Supporting Black theatre initiatives within the industry as voice/dialect workshop leader.
