Biography
I am an experimental behaviour analyst. My research interests involve training the capacity for derived relational responding, complex cognition (including analogical and hierarchical responding), the use of behaviour analytic interventions at both the individual and societal levels, and philosophy of science. I graduated from the Institute of Art, Design, & Technology Dun Laoghaire in Ireland with a BSc in Applied Psychology. I then spent two years working full-time at the Red Door School for Children with Autism & Complex Needs teaching functional skills to children with autism as part of a multi-disciplinary team using Applied Behaviour Analysis. At the same time, I was also enrolled part-time on the Structured PhD in Perception, Cognition, & Action at the National University of Ireland, Galway on a part-time basis. In 2015 I registered as a full-time PhD student at the University of Chichester after being awarded a full bursary. I am being supervised by Dr. Ian Tyndall (Director of Studies), Dr. Antonina Pereira, Dr. Jon Spence, and Dr. Sue Bentham. My PhD involves testing the efficacy of the SMART intervention (Strengthening Mental Abilities with Relational Training) for improving children’s intelligence and educational outcomes.
