Biography
Dr. Sealy is responsible for coordinating the teaching, learning and research activities for the BA (Hons) Event Management within the Business School. She is also responsible for employer-student engagement activity and the co-ordination of live event projects under the provision of the event management degree programme. Dr Sealy has worked in the corporate event industry for over 20 years and has served in senior managerial positions for Marriott Hotels and Resorts. She was also Groups and Incentives Manager for Almond Beach Resorts and the General Manager of Island Magic Barbados. She has staged and managed events for heads of state, royalty and large corporate entities including Bausch and Lomb, Glaxco Pharmaceuticals, American Express, Georgio Beverly Hills, General Portfolio, Carlson Marketing Group, Maritz Travel and many others. As well as working in the events industry, Dr Sealy has also worked in Marketing and Public Relations for many hospitality firms.
Research Interest
Wendy’s key areas of teaching include Managing and Planning Events; Applied Event Management; Contemporary Tourism and Events Environment Management;Business Research;Destinations Sustainability and Impacts;Managing Mega Events Destination and Event Design, Planning and Creation. Wendy is particularly interested in the experiences of event management students in Higher education and has spent a considerable amount of time conducting research and publishing work in this area. Her other interest involves experimenting with different ways to embed employability into the students’ higher education experiences in order to ensure that they adequately can compete for jobs at graduation.
