Biography
Prior to joining Cranfield University in 2004, Edith's background was in European affairs; she worked for the European Parliament and then as a consultant monitoring and advising on EU policy. Edith has been a member of the British Standards Institute Committee SSM/1 on Societal Security Management. She contributed to the review of the International Standards Organisation's ISO/TC 223 standard on the ""Elements of command, control, information, coordination and cooperation for emergency management"" and to the technical specification ISO 22351 on ""Societal Security - Emergency Preparedness - Message for structure for exchange of information"" Edith has also been a member of the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management since December 2008 and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2015.
Research Interest
Edith was involved in the management of a four-year Department for International Development funded initiative to raise the performance of both formal and informal governance institutions operating at the sub-national level in provinces of Afghanistan
