Biography
My hybrid practice combines art and architecture, academia and practical knowledge, and traditional and contemporary influences. My work explores the intersection of human bodies and architecture by envisioning non-ideal, deviant, playful, and personal images of embodied conditions. These imaginations take into account the leakiness of the contemporary body’s boundaries as well the unstable relationships enabled by interconnected individuals and technologies. My drawings and constructions have been exhibited in the UK, Italy and the US, and were recently included in Drawing Futures, published by UCL Press. My writing on Body Agents in Baroque architecture has also been included as part of the new anthology The Material Imagination: Reveries on Architecture and Matter published by Routledge. I received my PhD in Architectural Design from the Bartlett, UCL, my M. Arch II from Syracuse University where I studied urban design as a Fellow in Florence, Italy, and my Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. I have nearly a decade of experience in architectural design practice in New York City, including at Daniel Rowen Architects, B Five Studio, and as a partner at my own firm.
Research Interest
Currently, I teach 2nd and 3rd year design studio for the BA Interior Architecture Course; I joined the course in 2010 as a 2nd year design tutor and am proud to have been a part of its success over the years. I also teach Digital Representation for the Master of Architecture Course. Prior to joining University of Westminster in 2010 to teach in the new Interior Architecture Degree, I was part of the founding faculty team at the new School of Architecture at Marywood University in Pennsylvania. I have taught design students in a range of concentrations and academic levels, including studio courses at several universities in the US, including Virginia Tech and the New York Institute of Technology.
